District Profile

Lawton Public Schools will be a premier school district in the state of Oklahoma. Every student will graduate, and all students will finish high school with college, career-tech, or work experience.

Lawton Public Schools prepares life ready graduates.

Lawton Public Schools (LPS) is a premier school district with 27 educational sites in the heart of Southwest Oklahoma. LPS focuses on four guiding principles: preparing Life Ready Graduates, sharing professional ideals, promoting healthy lifestyles and advocating for communication and transparency. LPS serves a diverse population of 12,600 students and employs nearly 2,000 staff members.

Offering a wide-range of courses and extra-curricular activities, the district is expanding its educational opportunities by providing Makerspaces at every Pre-K through fifth grade site. In addition, high school course offerings are now available to seventh and eighth graders and the up-and-coming Life Ready Center (LRC) will house various Advanced Placement (AP), Concurrent courses, trade and skill course offerings as well as additional Fine Arts programs. The district greatly expanded virtual learning opportunities in order to fully accommodate students who prefer to do their work outside a traditional classroom.  In addition, LPS is a 1:1 district with technology devices.

Preparing for the road ahead, LPS students work through one of four pathways: college, career, military, or trade. While enrolled at LPS, students are able to attend concurrent and/or technology courses for free. This allows students to take college level courses while still earning their high school degree. Through initiatives and partnerships, LPS sets the standard for academic excellence in Southwest Oklahoma and across the state.

LPS is committed to ensuring all students have access to interest-specific educational opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment. A special thanks goes to the Lawton Fort Sill community for their continued support. Through bond funds, LPS was able to fully replace Eisenhower Middle School, add safe rooms to elementary schools, upgrade various technologies and purchase new textbooks. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Lawton/Ft. Sill community.

Every day is a collaboration between educators, parents and City of Lawton partners coming together to motivate and exhilarate young minds.
