United Way Donations

During the 2021 United Way Campaign, Lawton Public Schools (LPS) was able to assist in raising over $50,000 for local service-oriented organizations to bolster the Lawton community.

Eisenhower Elementary achieved some significant milestones in this year’s campaign by having 100% participation amongst their team, reaching 208% of their $936 goal – a substantial increase of 72.99% when compared to last year.

Coming in just 1% behind Eisenhower Elementary, Crosby Park Elementary contributed $2521.77 toward their overall goal of 1219.62 – meeting their school’s goal twice over.

Other milestones include 8 schools reaching 100% participation, with 13 schools reaching or exceeding their goals by some amount.

Media Operations Director Dave McDermott discussed the importance of the campaign to our local organizations.

“That is money that will go right back into our community,” McDermott said. “I personally know that organizations like the YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, CASA of SW Oklahoma, Family Promise, Girl Scouts, Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Marie Detty Youth & Family Service Center, just to name a few, will greatly appreciate it.

The goal for LPS this year was to reach $60,000 in donations for the United Way and the district ended up just under that mark, reaching 92% of that goal with a total donation amount of $55,389.25.

The United Way is dedicated to assisting service organizations in ensuring that basic needs are met for every individual; their mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.
